Safer defaults, not more homework
Most people harmed online were not careless. They were busy, and the risk arrived inside something ordinary - a search result, a download, a login page, a coffee-shop network.
Our mission
To make everyday Internet use meaningfully safer without requiring people to become security experts. That means good defaults, warnings that explain themselves, and settings written in words rather than acronyms.
It also means covering the whole path rather than one point on it. A search result leads to a page, a page leads to a download, a download runs on a device, and the device connects through a network. Our four products map to that path - see how they fit together.
Principles we hold ourselves to
Default to protected
Safety that requires configuration protects only the people who already knew to configure it.
Explain every warning
A warning should say what was found and what the options are, not just that something is wrong.
Name the limits
Every protection has gaps. Publishing them is how users make good decisions.
Collect less
Data we never collect cannot be leaked, subpoenaed or misused.
Never manufacture fear
We do not use invented statistics or countdown urgency to sell software.
Build for everyone
Accessibility is part of safety: an interface you cannot read cannot protect you.
Promises we will not make
Three claims are near-universal in this industry, and all three are misleading.
- “Complete protection.” No product stops every threat. Ours reduce exposure and say where they stop.
- “Total anonymity.” A VPN changes who can see your traffic. It does not make you anonymous to the services you sign in to.
- “We keep nothing at all.” Any operating service processes some data. What matters is what is retained, for how long, and why - documented in our privacy policy.
